CITY ARTS
City Arts (www.city-arts.org.uk) is a creative enterprise based in Nottingham and founded in 1977. The organisation is committed to using the arts within communities to change lives. It pioneers innovative working methods to enable groups and individuals to engage in a wide range of arts forms. City Arts works with local people and uses the creative arts to provide new learning opportunities and build confidence and well being. Its activities bring people together, stimulate change and create stronger, healthier communities. City Arts has been working with ArtReach on Night of Festivals since inception.
For Night of Festivals: Box of Tricks, City Arts brought its extraordinary Chimes installation to Wollaton Hall as part of the project. The Chimes are a set of six three metre high instruments that were created exclusively for City Arts and funded by the Foundation for Sport and the Arts. The Chimes, which spread over an 18 metre space and can be actively used by participants and professional musicians, were invented and designed by Nottingham based Dragon’s Den winner Michael Davis of Bass Tone Slap. They create an amazing resonating wall of sound.
