RENATA PADOVAN
Renata Padovan is a Brazilian artist living and working in São Paulo. She holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London (2001) and has since participated in several ‘artist in residence’ programmes including NES at Skagaströnd, Iceland; the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada; Nagasawa Art Park in Japan, and Braziers international artist workshop in the UK. Her work has been exhibited both in Brazil and abroad.
For Night of Festivals 2010 Renata shows Iemanja, a visual essay created with images captured during the Iemanjá commemoration day on the 2nd of February in Bahia. The images highlight the syncretism of Brazilian culture and make evident the traversing of traditions across borders.
