Celebrating the Bicentenary of Latin American independence
PachaMama procession departs Old Market Square, Anthony Hopwood
The Night of Festivals 2010 was a three day celebration of freedom and independence, where the streets of Nottingham were brought to life with the vibrant sights and sounds of Latin American culture.
This free and family friendly event featured the following:
- Festival Live Music Stage
- Festival Screen
- Carnival procession and performances
- Site-specific installation
- New contemporary art commissions
In addition to the activities in Old Market Square:
Nottingham Contemporary hosted the premier of Michael Nyman’s moving image work Cine Opera commissioned by ArtReach especially for the Festival.
The New Art Exchange held exhibition of photographs and video interviews by John Perivolaris, exploring what independence means to Latin American women living and working in the UK today.
